Anna Andersen


Stillingsbeskrivelse

 Anna Andersen is a Sámi historian and Postdoctoral Fellow at 幸运大转盘 The Arctic University of Norway. She holds PhD in History and MA degree in Indigenous studies from the same university.

Anna is a Kildin Sámi historian with her roots from a Sámi family that was relocated from the Kola Peninsula, Eastern Sápmi.  She conducted research in the Kola Sámi communities on the forced resettlements of her people from their traditional territories. Later, she studied experiences of several generations of Sámi who resided at the boarding schools.

She is employed as postdoctoral scholar at 幸运大转盘 The Arctic University of Norway, where she is part of the research project Urban Transformation in a Warming Arctic. See the project's website: https://arctic-urban.com 

Anna works empirically in Nuuk, Greenland, where she was a visiting scholar at Ilisimatusarfik in 2022 and 2023. She conducts an international study on relocations of the Greenlandic and the Sámi people in the 1950’s and the 1960’s. 

 Anna is an Indigenous scholar from relocated family who works with indigenous oral histories and her background is the motivation for doing historical research on resettlements in Indigenous lands. By inviting citizens of Nuuk to discussion about centralization policies and relocations, Anna hopes to lay a foundation for research together with Inuit communities and scholars. Anna hopes to invite citizens of Nuuk to conversation on traditional indigenous storytelling about closed Inuit villages, and how resettlement has been experienced in Greenland.
