CRAFT & ENCODE present: Metropolis (1927)

The UIT research groups CRAFT and the network ENCODE invite you to a screening of the science fiction movie Metropolis (Germany 1927) by Fritz Lang, at Verdensteatret Cinematek on Tuesday April 22 from 18:00.

One of the first feature-length science fiction films, Metropolis (1927) is a landmark film of dystopic urbanism and artificial intelligence. Adapted from Thea von Harbou's 1925 novel of the same name, the film  imagines a future city where wealthy elites direct a literal working underclass from colossal skyscrapers. Austrian-born director Fritz Lang is among the most influential German Expressionist filmmakers.

The event will start with an introduction by ENCODE  member Roswitha Skare, professor at the Department of Language and Culture , and end with a discussion with the audience. Please feel free to stay once the lights go back on!

The screening of Metropolos  is the 15th in a series of films on future imaginaries and technologies presented by CRAFT and ENCODE in cooperation with Verdensteatret Cinematek.
