INE-3801 Extended Reality - 5 ECTS

Type of course

The course can be taken as a single course.

Admission requirements

Bachelor degree in Engineering program in mechanical, electrical power, electronics, mechatronics, material science, industrial engineering, process engineering or other equivalent majors.

In addition, the following requirements must be met:

-minimum 25 ECTS in mathematics (equivalent to Mathematical Methods 1, 2 og 3), 5 ECTS in statistics and 7,5 ECTS in physics on a higher level is required.

Application code: 9371

Course content

The course will provide students with knowledge in extended reality (XR) and the technology. In the course some simulation/software examples will be provided for XR applications towards industry; General principles; Programming languages and methods.

Week 1:

  • Introduction of XR (VR/MR/AR)
  • Introduction of game engines (Unity/Unreal Engine)
  • Introduction of assets and scripts through marketplace (pre-made content
  • Set-up of software, accounts and hardware
  • Introduction of project I

Week 2:

  • Project II

The subject is built on two projects, a smaller project and a larger project.

The projects involve going through the phases from idea to finished product. The task can be solved in groups, and the project must be managed and documented according to the philosophy TOTAL QUALITY MANAGEMENT.

In total, this part will amount to 80 hours per student. Teaching/supervision is then included.

The own effort in the final project will be approx. 50 hours per student, including status report and status presentation + final report and presentation of the finished product.
