Objective of the course
After passing the course, students will have the following learning outcomes:
Knowledge and understanding:
The candidate will have knowledge of:
- Understanding the fundamentals of measurement systems
- Understanding the various terminologies used in measurement and instrumentation systems.
- Understanding the principles of industrial instrumentation and principles involved in control engineering.
Skills
The candidate should be able to:
- Able to measure various physical quantities using measurement techniques
- Design of simple measurement systems including the application of measurement tools and data manipulation and acquisition.
- Calibration of measurement sensors and instruments
- Identifisere, planlegge og presentere ingeniørfaglige arbeidsoppgaver innen sitt felt
- Dimensjonere en instrumentutrustning i en industriell prosess
General competence
The candidate shall have general competence in:
- applying the knowledge and skills independently in any particular situation by demonstrating the ability to cooperate, responsibility, capacity for reflection and critical thinking in studies and profession.
Language of instruction
English will be used as the main instruction language in the course.
English will be used as the main language in the exam, but students will be allowed to answer exam questions in Norwegian if they prefer.
Teaching methods
Lectures and exercises/lab work and project work.
All organized teaching, course literature, and handouts are considered as course material.
Audio and video of what takes place in the classroom will be recorded and will be made available live and on demand to course participants. Relevant links will also be published on Canvas.
There will be a meeting week (samlingsuke) for online students to conduct exercises/lab work. Online students must attend at least one day during the meeting week to complete exercises/lab work.
